I read Andrea’s book, American Oligarchs. It was thoroughly researched but so depressing. The lack of shame has redefined our culture and not for the better. It still needs to be told though, if only for future generations to learn.
I hadn’t fully considered the social inequities of being well informed. You really do have to get news from a variety of sources, synthesize it, and come up with your own opinions. Getting several daily subscriptions to newspapers, and taking the time to read them critically is not the priority. Television news doesn’t take the place of an in-depth, well- researched article.
