Unimaginable tragedy for these girls. Unbelievable bravery of David. What makes one man willing to live apart from his family to find these monsters and another man repeatedly rape babies? Does the culture shun the girls for being “defiled.”

So, in this case, Bodeli fought as he always has for the conviction of the perpetrators. He is a true rarity and a hero. In terms of shunning, the girls of Kavumu told me they faced bullying at school, which made a few of them drop out. Aside from that, in a different reporting trip, doctors and activists told me how women returned home after their treatment at Panzi and were beaten or stoned in the streets.
