I have recently met a young Tutsi man. He was 8 years old at the time of the genocide. He was extremely grateful for my knowledge and interest in what happened in Rwanda, but could not talk about it. That Consolee has managed to find the inner strength to go on and make a life for herself is a tribute to her humanity.

I don't think anyone else can have empathy enough to feel what Consolee must have gone through, even while telling us those incidents. You are brave and inspiring Consolee. Take Care and keep enlightening. Thank you Lauren for this podcast. I'm gonna wonder about this finding it helpful by comparison of Traumas around. Something intriguing to be thought about. Love to both.

I enjoyed this podcast but think the interviewer could have done a better job with open ended questions. There were a lot of interjections and unnecessary corrections. It would have been best for the interviewer to be more background and not insert herself into the story too much with her own comments and sidebars (like about traveling to the Democratic Republic of Congo, etc). Let the storyteller tell the story and keep the storyteller the center of the interview.
